An Update on the War for Western Civilization
During Memorial Day Week, I often share the heroic story of my Uncle Dick who was shot down in a bombing raid during World War II. To me, he will always be “The Bravest Boehme” and his story is worth remembering.
My uncle fought for an entire culture–what history calls Western Civilization. That war still rages today.
Here’s an important update on the war for Western Civilization.
Back to Eden–Walks and Work
As the world loosens-up from the corona virus lock down (some states quickly and others more slowly), my thoughts return to the Garden of Eden. Maybe it’s an escape of sorts, but I think God is using this season of angst to take us back to our roots.
I know most of us view the Covid-19 pandemic more as an attack from hell than a return to paradise. But, bear with me for a moment. Tough times tend to bring us back to the basics.
A couple of them stand out in the ancient world of Adam and Eve. Our ancestors enjoyed two primary activities in the birthplace of humanity:
Walks and work.
We would be wise to revive them.
Zooming Back to the Book of Acts?
I’ve been in some inspiring Zoom meetings recently–which appears to be the new norm. (If you haven’t experienced Zoom, it’s a software program that allows a few people or thousands to “meet on-line” in real time.)
Last week one gathering involved 300 mission leaders. Another four-hour session brought sixty youth ministry heads together. Then pastors and Christian leaders hooked up in my hometown.
Finally, we celebrated the National Day of Prayer on May 7 via Internet streaming which united millions of followers of Christ in virtual worship and prayer.
Is it time to re-set the Church by “zooming” back to the Book of Acts?
