The Mask of the Beast
I am not going senile in the title. Yes, I know that in the Last Days, the Bible talks about the mark of the beast. Here’s the famous reference:
“Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, and it spoke like a dragon… Also, it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666″ (Revelation 13:11-18).
A. Fauci (Dr. Anthony Fauci) contains 6 letters, and he was born on June 6. That adds up to “666.”
Just kidding.
But I have been thinking of a parallel–the mask of the Beast.
Back to Eden–Walks and Work
As the world loosens-up from the corona virus lock down (some states quickly and others more slowly), my thoughts return to the Garden of Eden. Maybe it’s an escape of sorts, but I think God is using this season of angst to take us back to our roots.
I know most of us view the Covid-19 pandemic more as an attack from hell than a return to paradise. But, bear with me for a moment. Tough times tend to bring us back to the basics.
A couple of them stand out in the ancient world of Adam and Eve. Our ancestors enjoyed two primary activities in the birthplace of humanity:
Walks and work.
We would be wise to revive them.
Reopen and Never Close Again
I was tempted with two titles for today’s article. The first was “Herd to Control or to Heal?”
Some experts believe herd immunity helps us to heal (fight disease) naturally. They think it would have been the wisest response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Others, in the name of health concerns, are using the virus to “herd people” under their control. That’s what will happen in the Last Days when a charismatic global figure will deceive the masses of the world for evil purposes.
I talked about a “trial run” for tyranny last week. Today I want to focus on dealing with the COVID-19 lock down with a title that states the obvious:
Reopen the economy and never close it again.
