Double Jeopardy and the Sins of a Falling Nation
Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan’s vision of a “summer of love” has become the summer of hate.
I don’t think she gets it (or maybe she does).
Anarchists have burned and looted Portland for eight weeks. Seattle is still on fire. In other Democratic-run cities, chaos and destruction become normal and commonplace.
Why?
Because of double jeopardy and the sins of a falling nation.
This Culture War is All About God
It’s quite apparent that the Western World and its apex–the United States of America–is engaged in a cultural civil war. I have written numerous pieces on this subject and was among the first to call attention to the fragile state of Western Civilization.
Most civil wars aren’t quick–they take years to play out and only one side wins. This one will be no different except for one enormous detail.
This culture war is all about God.
Verbal Fascism
I remember vividly the cultural turmoil of the 1960’s highlighting the importance of free speech at the U.C.-Berkeley and other campuses. Though I strongly rejected the youth rebellion and its focus on drugs, free sex, and hatred of the police, I agreed with one tenet.
Free speech.
It stood enshrined in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights and seemed as American as apple pie. I thought the radicals simply wanted equal time. That’s fair in a free society.
I was wrong.
Those same radicals now control many of the leadership positions in government, the media and higher education in the United States. We now know what they wanted all along.
Control. And how do you gain it?
Verbal Fascism.
