Why I Changed My Mind About Juneteenth

I didn’t grow up in a segregated world nor one where human slavery was practiced– at least locally. Some Muslim nations still quietly tolerate it in other parts of the world.

I’d never heard of Juneteenth until a few years ago. At first blush, I assumed it was being promoted for race hustling purposes, aimed to divide the country further, or advance the march of cultural Marxism in the USA. I was hesitant and slightly cynical.

Then I changed my mind. I now conclude it is worthy of great celebration in our nation.

Memorial Day 2023: The Bravest Boehme

Today is Memorial Day in the U.S. Over one million men and women gave their lives defending the our country in twelve major wars. Another four million died due to complications after battle. 

Earlier today, I accompanied my wife and mother to a powerful “Remembrance” time at our local cemetery and placed flowers on the headstones of loved ones. The solemn, prayerful,  tearful ceremony showcased the “best” of America. Freedom is not free–it’s very costly.

The person I think about most on Memorial Day is my Uncle Dick whom I’ll have the privilege of meeting in heaven. He died near the end of WWII in 1945.

He was the bravest Boehme.

Male and Female He Created Them

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). 

The assault on biblical sexual morality began in America a generation ago– and has been relentless. It started with Hollywood stars casually committing adultery and normalizing it in the culture. Then the youth rebellion of the 60’s popularized sex before marriage, which eventually collapsed the God-given institution of wedlock in the early 21st century.

The final piece of sexual confusion/destruction comes from the transgender movement: We don’t even know if we’re male and female anymore–which is a state of madness.

Here’s the simple truth: “Male and female God created them.”
