Two Mortal Dangers Amid God’s Rays of Hope

For years I shared the message of Jeremiah around the United States and in other nations of the world.

The prophet spent four decades warning the Hebrew people that four sins were hastening their demise as a nation: 1) Idolatry–putting other things before God, 2) Religious perversion–compromising true worship and practice, 3) Seared Consciences–the blurring of right and wrong, and 4) Human Injustice–hurting people due to the first three.

Judah sinned and fell in 586 B.C.  It didn’t recover as a nation for 2500 years until Israel’s rebirth in 1948.

America faces some mortal dangers in this generation–amid some rays of hope.

Be forewarned–and incited to pray.

Two Mortal Dangers Amid God’s Rays of Hope

I believe that America’s sins parallel the nation of Israel. In fact, they are the common sins of a falling nation. I shared this perspective two years ago when the current administration came to power. You can read it here.  You can also listen to my complete message on why nations collapse due to the justice/judgement of God.

Today I want to focus on two mortal dangers of deep concern.

Economic Danger

The recent “debt ceiling deal” reflects the first mortal danger. America is now 31 trillion dollars in debt. Thirty-one trillion. That’s an unimaginable number.

It took the U.S. 205 years to accumulate just one trillion dollars in debt (1776-1981). Many astute people were scared about our future forty years ago. But now, in just forty-two short years, reckless public spending has increased thirty times.

In my opinion, the recent debt-ceiling agreement allowing the national debt to grow to 35 trillion in the next 24 months is a potential disaster for our nation.

There are many strong opinions on the Biden-McCarthy deal. Some conservatives such as former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, label it an historic and strategic victory. Other conservatives like Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul view it as a major blunder.

Bill O’Reilly, with whom I agree most of the time, believes the agreement saw Speaker McCarthy play the “long game” while hoping for a Republican sweep in 2024. He reasoned that the Republican House-passed “Fiscal Responsibility Act” (FRA) prior to the debt-ceiling bill wouldn’t have passed the Senate, or if it did, be vetoed by the president.

I disagree.

The House held all the cards when it put necessary restraints on federal spending in the FRA.  The Senate and President Biden would have been forced to accept it or a slightly modified version because if they didn’t, the Democrats alone would have been blamed for the first major default in American history (despite media propaganda).

It would have been reluctantly passed and signed just like the Obama budget sequester in 2013.

But McCarthy blinked.

Now we face an additional four trillion dollars in debt and 87,000 newly funded IRS agents to harass the American people (among other things).

Richard Stern, director of The Heritage Foundation’s Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, told The Daily Signal

“This bill gives Biden a blank check until after the election while only giving a promise on meager spending cuts. With the slush funds in and outside of the bill, and the side deals between the White House and Congressional leaders, this will likely result in an increase in federal spending,” Stern said. “Only in D.C. can an increase in spending be classified as a cut. This is how we got to into the fiscal disaster we’re in now.”

Senator Mike Lee opined, “The Senate has passed a farce.”

This insanely irresponsible spending by the US government is also causing some nations to “leave the dollar” as the world’s reserve currency. That could bring down the republic and profoundly affect everyday Americans. An economic collapse (what the Democrats/progressives want to impose a stricter form of socialism in the U.S.) would make the Covid upheavals  seem like a Sunday School picnic.

You must prepare your family for this possibility and pray for courageous leaders.

Moral Danger

The collapse of biblical morality, marriage, and family in America is also destroying the national fabric. Atheists have been winning the moral battle for years–with transgender confusion simply being the latest “lie” about human sexuality.

The American conscience has become deeply seared by numerous perversions of right and wrong leading to exploding homelessness, lawlessness in the cities, an epidemic of teen depression/suicide, and 100,000 Americans dying of drug overdoses each year.

We must cry out to God for moral and spiritual renewal.

Maybe he’s beginning to answer.

Rays of Hope

Victor Davis Hanson recently wrote a column called Is The Sleeping Conservative Dragon Finally Waking Up? He notes the anti-woke backlash against Anheuser-Busch, and most recently Target, being a sign that traditional America is finally rising to resist the tide of moral evil being shoved down their throats.

“I do think we’re at a tipping point,” said  Tony Perkins to Dr. Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, recently. “It’s one thing to push the whole woke [agenda], but this transgender thing … [is] a bridge too far. … [Americans are] seeing their children and grandchildren transformed by this ideology. And it’s frightening. … And when you have corporate America jumping on the bandwagon, pushing this, and it’s in your face at every turn, [then this becomes] a different moment.”

Traditional conservatives are finally rising up to resist public evil. But the key is widespread spiritual awakening in the Church to bring a larger scale moral reformation to the nation.

Maybe that’s beginning also.

A recent headline announced,  “4,166 People Baptized at Historic ‘Jesus Revolution’ Beach.”

The article declared:

Just months after the Asbury revival took the world by storm, a recent story about more than 4,100 baptisms unfolding at a historic California beach inspires the faithful.

Another big sign of spiritual revival in America occurred at a historic California location. More than 4,000 people were baptized in Pirate’s Cove on Pentecost Sunday to celebrate the gift of eternal life and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Jesus Movement.

Oceans Church organized Baptize SoCal, advertised as ‘the biggest water baptism in history.’ The huge event coincided with a major anniversary of the Christian awakening that saw hundreds of thousands of young people come to Christ in the 60s and 70s.

More than 280 churches and 8,000 attendees watched as 4,166 people fled to the shore of Pirates Cove to declare their new life in Christ.

Attendees report the atmosphere was electric as people praised God and celebrated their ‘Kingdom family.’

Intercessors for America also reported recently that a quiet revival is happening in some parts of our nation’s public school system through a law passed in 1952 informally called “released time.”

The idea goes as far back as 1905, when educators at a conference in New York City discussed the closing of elementary schools for one day per week so that students could receive religious education off campus. The idea caught on, and by 1947 participation had reached 2 million students across 46 states. Twelve states adopted education laws in favor of such released time religious education. After several legal challenges, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld its constitutionality, and released time has been legal ever since.

Now its growing again.

Since 1990, a multidenominational organization called School Ministries, Inc., has been assisting local communities in establishing Christian education programs through released time in 12 states. In 2019, LifeWise Academy was launched to also offer “during school hours” faith-based teaching. They now operate in hundreds of schools in ten states.

Danger lurks, so be prepared. Resist evil wherever you can.

And pray that God’s gracious “reviving” continues to grow from sea to shining sea.

Thanks, Jim. I don’t believe we can know for certain the times and seasons. But it is always right, until our dying breath, to believe God for great things on earth and his will done “on earth as it is in heaven.” That’s his heart’s desire and should be ours as well.

And we can leave the “final wrap up of history” to Him.

Ron, Although these times are the most troubling we have seen ever, can we not
keep praying for God’s will be done down here as it is in Heaven? I still expect a visible
fourth wave to hit because if it doesn’t soon, I don’t see there being enough time
before the 7 year tribulation to enter with a vengeance never seen before like we
were told. Thank you so much for this; always good to hear from your heart.
