The War of 2024
God designed human beings to value and seek three critical realities:
Truth. Goodness. Beauty (the cultural trinity).
Truth is the most important because it gives perspective to everything. Jesus declared and backed up with his life:
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me (John 14:6).
With the collapse of Western Judeo-Christian norms in the latter 20th and early 21st centuries, it’s becoming more difficult to know what’s true–in every area.
Here are some thoughts on the War of 2024 and knowing the truth.
The War of 2024
The face of Satan and evil is becoming bolder in 2024. Why? Because where light recedes darkness grows.
The USA was once saturated with biblical truth (the Ten Commandments) and belief in Jesus Christ. The Savior announced to his followers 2000 years ago:
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31,32).”
We were protected by a high degree of “truth” in America for over 200 years because of faith in Jesus and trust in the Bible. We took for granted biblical principles of family life, social mores, just laws, and the freedom and blessings they produced.
We’re losing that freedom in the 2020s because of individually and corporately turning away from God’s truth. Yes, lies are as old as the Garden of Eden. But in 2024, they’re mushrooming among our 330 million people.
One reason is growing censorship. Here’s a nearby example.
European Union leader Ursula von der Leyen used her address in Davos recently to highlight the risks of allowing the free flow of information due to “misinformation and disinformation.” The EU chief called for governments and private entities to form a “new connective tissue” to “deliver the solutions we need to fight threats like climate change or industrial-scale disinformation.”
It other words, the elites must ensure we peons only hear what they want us to hear.
Ms. von der Leyen said the need to combat disinformation is “more important than ever” given that 2024 will be the largest election year in the history of the world, with 41 per cent of the global population going to the polls. During this election year, Brussels (EU headquarters) will have more censorship powers than ever.
She said that starting in February, social media companies/websites will face fines of up to six per cent of their global revenue if they fail to comply with the speech restrictions. In addition, platforms also face the possibility of being banned entirely.
They want to control us.
Do you hear the demonic echo in her words?
In the U.S., the Biden Administration and Big Media have also ratcheted up censorship to block out the truth. Recently, C.J. Stroud, star quarterback of the Houston Texans, had his faith in Jesus removed from a post game interview. Free speech is being openly suppressed in most major media outlets except for X, formerly Twitter (thanks to Elon Musk).
So, how do we stay informed to pray, vote, and be “salt and light” in our culture? By choosing our sources carefully and prayerfully.
Lindsey Communications in concert with Gary Bauer’s “End of the Day” report quotes Brent Bozell, founder and President of the Media Research Council (MRC):
“News” in the traditional meaning of the word is dead. Market demands and financial realities have moved us into the infotainment space, a combination of news, entertainment, information and commentary all rolled into one. So, what follows is not news in its pure sense but the closest we can come to that.
Lindsey/MCR recommend the following for getting honest news in 2024:
- Newspapers – Washington Times, New York Post, and the Epoch Times.
- Television: Bret Baier and Fox in the Morning, Newsmax, BBC (international news only), and News Nation.
- Radio: Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.
- On-line: Daily Wire, Daily Caller, Daily Signal, and Breitbart.
- Podcasts: Ben Shapiro and Charlie Kirk.
Lindsey Communications explains the media future we’re facing (read this carefully):
Two years from now it is guaranteed that this list will be different, with some of these gone, and new ones coming out of nowhere. The communications industry is evolving at a lightning-fast pace Two years ago no one had ever heard of TikTok. Yet today it dominates social media worldwide. There is no telling what outlets, and what new technologies will emerge. (We) predict within five years there will be a new conservative news network. There is a huge market opportunity here.
If anyone tells you social media is where one finds news, flog him. Social media is a necessary evil, especially if you want to reach the young, but at best it provides only information. The exception? X. All news is projected through X today, which is to say that anyone who has a news story promotes it on X with a tweet. If you’re on social media, X will provide you news.
Finally, A.I. This may change everything. In fact, it will change everything. There is no telling, none whatsoever, where we will be in the world of communications in ten years, even without AI. But when you throw this new technology into the mix, I will venture to say that nothing can be safely predicted two years from now.
I agree we live in a fast-changing world where the fabric of truth-filled Western culture is fraying. We must be wise seekers of truth to know “how should we then live (Ezekiel 33:10).”
Here are my favorite truth sources currently and why.
- The Bible – Center your day around God’s objective source of truth–the Bible. I devotionally read God’s Word each morning as I have, cover-to-cover, for 52 years. Shirley and I also read some devotionals at breakfast that are all based on Scripture.
- Bill O’Reilly’s No Spin News (billoreilly.com) – I agree with O’Reilly most of the time due to his Catholic/traditional worldview and adherence to the facts, not conspiracies.
- Tucker Carlson Network (tucker carlson.com) – He has the best interviews globally on big picture issues, coming from a conservative/libertarian viewpoint.
- Intercessors for America – Excellent news analysis through the lens of intercession.
- Daily Signal (Heritage Foundation) – Very good on the issues of the day.
- Gary Randall (Faith & Freedom) – An evangelical voice for prayer and action.
- Gingrich 360 – Newt Gingrich is one of the wisest national leaders of the past generation.
- Dick Morris Lunch Alert – Very savvy on history and current trends.
- CBN News – A clear evangelical voice on contemporary issues, inspiring faith and hope.
- Breitbart News – Probably the clearest conservative voice for news.
- Economic War Room (Kevin Freeman) – Very important truths related to money.
- Prayer – personally and with others. I personal enjoy prayer walks with God most days praying for the Great Commission, societal needs, and personal issues. Prayer is your best subjective connection to the truth.
I don’t really have time to watch podcasts, but there are over five million in America. Choose wisely.
Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills, California gave a powerful message recently on The War of 2024. (I borrowed his title.) It’s an hour long, and there’s a sequel, but Hibbs persuasively confirms the battle for truth that we’re in and how we can triumph.
Let’s focus on the all-important cultural trinity this year. Start with truth and choose your sources carefully. Grow godly character through the power of the Holy Spirit. And see God’s beauty all around you.
That pursuit must center on Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the life.
Great information. Thanks! We live in uncertain times, for sure.
Uncertain in terms of earthly history (only God knows). But totally certain in the triumph of Jesus over evil and our reigning and ruling with Him. Let’s “keep our eyes on Jesus” while we battle against wickedness on earth.
Thank you, Ron, for all of this info from your letter. God has used you mightly to draw a clear line in the sand. To help lead us in amazing ways to bring the truth of where this world is heading.
For our clear understanding, God is using you to be that beacon of light to help march through this “War of 24”. All the tools you wrote across the board are great ways to gleam from. I appreciate all of the people you’ve listed to help us spring board into action. We read something so powerful & want to do something about it, but are stopped because the speaker doesn’t follow through by giving the material to work with. Thank you for your due diligence, Ron!
It’s been a joy knowing both you and Shirley over the past 30 years.
Your letters capture the truth!
