Three Dates with Destiny during America’s 250th Birthday
I’ve mentioned previously the “trumpets” being blown for revival in America in 2026.
This year is the 250th birthday of the USA–a very special time in the annals of “free nations.” We were born through a sacrificial generation of God-loving-and-fearing people who prayed, read their Bibles, and fought for liberty against the greatest powers on earth.
They prevailed because God honored their faith.
Our nation needs to be reborn in 2026 and three “dates with destiny” may be bridges to that end. How would God want you to participate in the coming weeks?
Three Dates with Destiny during America’s 250th Birthday
Over the next sixty days (April 18 to May 17), spiritual leaders in our nation are calling all Americans:
- To get back to reading the Bible and applying its wise principles to our lives, families, and national life.
- To pray with passion and faith for a spiritual awakening that will transform us as individuals and all our institutions.
- To rededicate our nation to God, restoring the covenant we made with Him 250 years ago to be a “shining light on a hill” (Matthew 5:14) to the nations of the world.
Is this too big an assignment?
Not to our God.
Here are the three dates with destiny.
- America Reads the Bible, April 18-25, 2026
“Celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America and encouraging every American to rediscover our foundation.”
America Reads the Bible is a national Scripture-reading event and movement led by Christians Engaged – a nonprofit organization committed to discipling Americans on biblical worldview and their responsibilities as citizens to pray, vote, and engage for the wellbeing of our nation.
Having the vision for this movement over two years, Bunni Pounds, the founder and president of Christians Engaged, has stepped out by faith to join the Body of Christ for the purpose of encouraging people to go back to the Bible.
This initiative invites Americans from every background to return to the spiritual foundation that has shaped our country — the Word of God. Over the course of one week, leaders and everyday citizens alike will participate in a public reading of the entire Bible, bringing together voices from government, education, business, the arts, and the Church.
In honor of the 250th birthday of the United States, America Reads the Bible serves as a spiritual celebration of our nation’s founding ideals and a call to rediscover the truth that still anchors us today.
Through live readings, national broadcasts, discipleship partnerships, and local gatherings, this movement exists to remind leaders — and the nation — that lasting renewal begins with a return to God’s Word.
How can you participate from home, your church, or town or city?
2. The National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2026
Here is the most recent Presidential Proclamation by President Trump:
From the earliest days of our Nation’s journey, America has been guided by the grace of Almighty God. Beginning with the opening prayer at the First Continental Congress in 1774, our faith has perpetually stood as the summit of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness. This National Day of Prayer, we thank God for His endless blessings ‑- and we ask Him to grant us fortitude, wisdom, and a renewed spirit of justice as we continue the work to save our country and restore our national promise.
Across every chapter of our grand American story — from General George Washington’s humble prayer at Valley Forge to Reverend Billy Graham’s legendary rallies in the heart of Manhattan to the somber National Prayer Service in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, our greatest leaders have always recognized the necessity of faith, prayer, and devotion to God. As President Washington famously stated in his seminal Farewell Address, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”
For these reasons, my Administration is fighting to defend America’s longstanding legacy of prayer, faith, and trust in God. As President, I proudly established Task Forces to eradicate religious bias by combatting anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, and additional forms of anti-religious bias. They are charged with the mandate to identify and eliminate all anti‑religious policies, practices, and conduct in executive departments and agencies. In addition, I established the White House Faith Office in order to strengthen our families and to protect our religious freedom. I will never waver in safeguarding the right to religious liberty and protecting God in our public square.
Through America’s victories and defeats, triumphs and setbacks, and periods of peace and times of war, the divine force of prayer has unfailingly sustained our people, our culture, and our beloved Nation. It was faith that guided our ancestors across turbulent waters to Plymouth Rock. It was faith that inspired our Founding Fathers to put in writing those immortal words, “All men are created equal.” It is faith that freed our Nation from the clutches of tyranny nearly 250 years ago, and it is faith that has rescued our freedom from forces of evil time and time again.
This is the 2026 National Prayer by NDP Task Force president Kathy Branzell:
Almighty God, King of Glory, we confess our sins and repent of our pride that sought our own glory and comfort, allowing evil to take root instead of Your fruit in our hearts, homes, culture, and country. Please forgive us.
Now, with this declaration of rededication, we humble ourselves, pray, and seek Your face, turning from our wicked ways, that You would heal our lives and our land. Please purify and renew our hearts with holy attributes, affections, attitudes, and actions-to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We give You glory as we repent and rededicate our lives and our nation to You.
For 250 years You have guarded and guided America in wisdom, grace, mercy, and love. We praise and thank You for our Founding Fathers, for all who sought You in fervent prayer throughout history and answered Your call to defend justice and freedom; to protect and serve, preach and teach, innovate, communicate, learn, work, worship, and establish our laws.
May Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done in our lives, our Families, the Church, Education, Business, Military, Government, Arts, Entertainment and Media as it is in heaven. We prayerfully commit to “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations.” In Jesus’ name, Amen!
How can you, your family, and church join in heart and soul with the National Day of Prayer?
3. Rededicate 250: National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving, May 17, 2026
This is a special gathering in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall on Sunday, May 17, from 8:00 AM to 6 PM. It follows on the tradition of past Washington For Jesus gatherings and other special prayer to seek God for our nation.
We are encouraged to join with neighbors and friends from every state in the Union in giving thanks and praise to God for 250 years of His Providence for the United States, in praying that God Bless and Protect America for the next 250 years, and in solemnly rededicating our country as One Nation under God. In speech, song, and storytelling, we will bear witness to the extraordinary story of how God has powerfully and wondrously shaped the United States of America—remembering the people, sacrifices, and defining moments in which God has powerfully manifested Himself in our history. This is more than an event — it is a once in a lifetime national moment.
Most of us can’t be there. But what can you do at home?
